$20 Medical Cannabis Card Online in Hilo

Hilo residents may find websites advertising medical cannabis certification or card services for approximately $20. That amount should not be mistaken for the full official price of becoming a registered 329 patient in Hawaiʻi.

The state registration charge alone is currently $38.50 for a one-year application, including the $35 DOH fee and $3.50 administrative fee. A qualifying patient must also receive medical cannabis certification from an eligible physician or APRN.

An initial applicant may establish the required bona fide provider-patient relationship through an in-person or telehealth appointment. The medical provider must still conduct the certification process required by Hawaiʻi rather than simply issuing patient approval based on an online form.

Once the medical portion has been addressed, the patient submits the registry application to the certifying provider. The provider certifies the medical condition and sends the application to DOH for review.

Hawaiʻi also caps fees charged specifically for medical cannabis certification. The evaluation and issuance of a one-year certification together may cost no more than $105.

For a Hilo applicant, a $20 advertisement should therefore be understood as a possible promotional or partial service price rather than the complete cost of obtaining a valid Hawaiʻi 329 registration.
