Who We Are

Hilo Medical Cannabis Card provides patient-centered support for individuals navigating Hawaiʻi’s Medical Cannabis Registry Program. We understand that the distinction between medical certification, a 329 card, primary caregiver registration, and an approved grow site may not be immediately clear to someone entering the program for the first time.

Our purpose is to make the process easier to understand while reinforcing the respective roles of the medical provider and the state. A qualified physician or APRN provides the medical certification, while the Hawaiʻi Department of Health reviews the application and issues the 329 registration.

Hawaiʻi does not permit medical cannabis use in public places, and its smoke-free requirements continue to apply to medical cannabis. Hilo patients should also be especially aware that cannabis may not be transported inter-island by qualifying patients or caregivers.
